THIS IS SEED PROJECT
WE DEVELOP YOUNG AFRICAN LEADERS THROUGH:
EDUCATION & EMPLOYMENT
Our programs are designed to increase school retention and graduation rates, and help students matriculate to university or vocational school. We also provide job training programs for SEED alumni and aspiring youth basketball coaches and mentors, and, often hire SEED coaches through this network. Ultimately, we want our young people to have the skills and confidence to succeed in an increasingly global economy so they can help develop their respective countries from within.
Basketball is the hook we use to engage youth in our programming. We serve both beginner level and advanced youth, and our innovative basketball curriculum is designed to help all skill levels enhance their abilities. Our training is focused on both individual skill development and team-based concepts. Finally, our life skills curriculum utilizes the basketball court as a teaching tool to prepare our youth to be the leaders of tomorrow.
Young girls across Sub-Saharan Africa face disproportionate educational and athletic opportunities to their male counterparts. Across all programs we maintain a 1:1 boy:girl ratio, and our Women's Empowerment curriculum ensures that all participants engage in discussions about gender equality. We also provide female-specific empowerment workshops so our young women have a safe environment where they can express themselves.
Today’s African youth will shape their country’s future, and we believe each country should be developed from within. Across all of our programs, we emphasize to our participants the importance of being an engaged and contributing member of your community. Further, we provide a diverse offering of leadership activities to ensure that our young people have the confidence and problem-solving capabilities to shape their country's future.
